2021 awards scheme launched

June 2021

The global pandemic has touched everyone, and having not run either the UK Bus Awards or the UK Coach Awards last year, the Management Committee agreed that we should bring both road passenger transport sectors into one award scheme this year. There will not be a glittering presentation ceremony, but we still want to recognise and reward some of the great work going on out there. We have new ‘fast and easy’ entry process and new categories.

UK Bus Awards statement and plans

April 2021

We wanted to update you all on our current situation and thinking regarding the UK Bus Awards. It is as important as ever that those within the Bus and Coach Industry are recognised for their efforts and achievements. We will be planning an event which will include Coach, as there have been innumerable brilliant things happen in both industries, and this will be more beneficial to our supporters and participants.

Ordinarily, we would be now seeking entries for the usual November, UKBA event. However, given the situation within the industry and the challenges ahead for all our friends and colleagues, we will be working on a virtual alternative to our usual ceremony.

Following our highly successful and well received video presentation last November, we are working on an exciting alternative event which will again recognise and reward excellence, whilst reflecting the major challenges facing everyone. We will recognise the fantastic achievements by our industry colleagues and look at those brilliant things being done to prepare the bus and coach sectors for the future.

We are working with our Management Committee to finalise plans and there will be more news to follow shortly!

We remain steadfast in our support of the whole road passenger transport industry, and our best wishes are with you all during these challenging times.

A year that changed the world

17 November 2020

On Tuesday 17th November 2020 we would have been together in London celebrating all that’s best in our industry at the annual awards ceremony. Covid-19 put a stop to that. Instead we’ve put together this video that celebrates how our remarkable industry has stepped up to meet the challenge. With a vaccine on the horizon, we hope that we’ll be able to get together in person next year. In the meantime, please enjoy this video.

Welcome to our new online home

1 September 2020

We have been listening to all our industry partners, who like us, want to promote the UK bus industry by recognising the many great things you do on an ongoing basis. This new website is the culmination of a lot of listening on our part and some great feedback and suggestions.

As well as a new look website and a new logo, there is a new online entry system that simplifies the entry process. You can save and edit forms as many times as you like so you can get your entry across in the best possible light for judging. Submit when ready, and your information is stored safely and securely for future use.

So, delve in and discover what we are doing to promote all that is good in buses!

You can find out more about how easy the new online entry is, along with the other changes for the 2021 competition under How to Enter.

Entries are open now so tell us about your great work! With no competition in 2020, winning in 2021 will be better than ever.

We’ve also reviewed the award categories and their criteria, extended the free flow forms that proved so popular in the last competition, and reviewed our  judging panels, all to make our scheme even more relevant.

We are excited to work more closely with our new Board colleague, Chloe Leach O’Connell, who will bring a wealth of knowledge, along with great energy to help us realise our ambition to promote greater diversity and inclusion in our Industry.

We hope you like our new home, if we can help just get in touch with one of the team.

What’s new for the 2021 competition

31 August 2020

We’ve consulted with judges, entrants and other stakeholders and made the following changes for the 2021 competition:

  • All entry forms are now online.
  • There is a new category: Diversity. This is intended to recognise particular efforts to promote diversity in all forms, such as particular efforts to attract a diversity of people into the industry, the promotion of equal opportunities, initiatives to make it obvious that a business welcomes recruitment from all, and practices designed to help a business to be part of the diverse community in which it operates. The full criteria of this new category can be found here.
  • The Sustained Marketing Excellence and Marketing Initiative of the Year categories will be rested this year and replaced with a single Marketing category. The amended criteria is available here.
  • The title of the ROSCO award has been slightly revised to better reflect the criteria of the category.
  • The ‘free flow’ entry form trialled in the last competition was liked by entrants and judges and so has been extended to more categories this year.

A message from the UK Bus Awards

30 April 2020

After considerable discussion and consultation with our industry colleagues and friends, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the UK Bus Awards 2020 and proceed once again in 2021. It was not an easy decision to make, but one that we are sure you will understand.

Our industry has always been resilient and resourceful, and we know that this is down to the extraordinary people that work within it. Every day we are witnessing the incredible efforts our colleagues and their organisations are going to, in order to keep the country moving. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our thanks to each and every one of our industry’s key workers.

As you know the UK Bus Awards recognises and rewards outstanding achievements, and at this time this has never been more poignant. We are certain that the Awards in November 2021 will be a remarkable celebration of how our industry, and our people, came together to successfully keep the country moving in its time of need.

We will keep you posted on any news and updates, and we look forward to seeing you all in 2021.
